Regular Season Round 12: Khimik - Kyiv Basket 83-88

An interesting game for Kyiv Basket (12-6) which played road game in Yuzhny against one of their biggest challengers Khimik (11-8). Third ranked Kyiv Basket managed to get a 5-point victory 88-83. Khimik was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 28-19 charge of Kyiv Basket, which allowed them to win the game. Khimik was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: PLNU) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 13 assists. International swingman Bogdan Bliznyuk (198-95, college: EWU) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American forward Lewis Sullivan (201-95, college: UAB) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Isaiah Williams (188-95, college: Georgia St.) added 20 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Khimik. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-6 record having just three points less than leader Dnipro. Khimik lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Kyiv Basket will face Cherkasy (#5) on the road in the next round. Khimik will play against the league's second-placed Prometey in Kamianske and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
