Regular Season Round 17: Mannheim - Koblenz 52-86

Very expected game when 11th ranked Mannheim (6-11) was rolled over at home by second ranked Koblenz (13-4) 86-52 on Sunday. Koblenz dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mannheim's 22. The best player for the winners was American power forward KJ Sherrill (203-91, college: Augusta) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Yassin Mahfouz (194-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Five Koblenz players scored in double figures. Guard Benjamin Kaufhold (185-89) produced 14 points and 4 assists and Polish Slawomir Klocek (192-84) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Koblenz. They maintain second place in South-West with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Ansbach. Loser Mannheim dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Koblenz will face league's leader Karlsruhe SC at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mannheim will play against Fellbach (#7) and hope to win that game.
