Regular Season Round 16: Zalgiris U18 - Zalgiris II 73-83

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: Zalgiris II (#10) and Zalgiris U18 (#9). Zalgiris U18 was defeated at home 73-83 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Zalgiris U18 was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 26-11 charge of Zalgiris II, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Rokas Kabainskas who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists and swingman Paulius Dembinskas (195-2) who added 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Nedas Montvila (188-2) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Joris Mulvinskas (178-2) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris II (5-10) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Zalgiris U18. Zalgiris U18 lost fourth consecutive game. Zalgiris II will meet at home league's leader V.Knasiaus KM in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zalgiris U18's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Tornado KM.
