Regular Season Round 18: Vaerlose - Herlev 73-70

The most exciting game of round 18 in the Dameligaen took place in Vaerlose. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Herlev (8-8) to fifth ranked Vaerlose (5-10) 73-70 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Herlev. The hosts trailed by 16 points after three quarters before their 25-6 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Vaerlose dominated on the defensive end, holding Herlev to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 19 Herlev turnovers. Vaerlose looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for international swingman Frida Formann (179-1) who led her team to a victory with 27 points and 9 rebounds. International center Julianna Okosun (194-1) contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Vaerlose's coach Thomas Hemmingsen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Caroline Rasmussen (177-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Ellen Iversen (180-97) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Herlev. Vaerlose maintains fifth position with 5-10 record. Herlev at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Vaerlose are looking forward to face SISU (#6) in Copenhagen in the next round. Herlev will play on the road against the league's leader Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
