Regular Season Round 14: Gyumri - Urartu 80-143

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Gyumri (2-14) was crushed at home by second ranked Urartu (12-2) 143-80 on Thursday. The game without a history. Urartu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Urartu outrebounded Gyumri 52-30 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 27 long-distance shots on high 50.9 percentage. Urartu looked well-organized offensively handing out 48 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Gyumri's players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Matthew Madoian (193-97, college: J.and Wales, RI) who scored 81 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international Andrey Konstantinov (196-95) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. American point guard Julian Winton (183-96, college: Tabor) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Atencio Martin (196-95, college: S.Maine CC) added 21 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Urartu have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record having 2 victories less than leader Aragatz. Gyumri lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost.
