Second Stage Round 2: Medias - Focsani 93-87

Medias used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Focsani 93-87 on Friday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Focsani won third quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Focsani outrebounded Medias 44-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jacob Gibson (198-93, college: Harding, agency: One Motive Sports) who scored 24 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international point guard Octavian Calota (185-84) chipped in 20 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. American forward Donovan Smith (206, college: Quinnipiac) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import Akim Mitchell (197-96, college: Hampton) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Medias and five Focsani players scored in double figures. Focsani's coach Mihai Petrut rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Medias will face Craiova at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Focsani will play against Pitesti (#2) and hope to win that game.
