No shocking result in a game in Istanbul where third ranked Galatasaray (12-3) defeated 11th ranked Cukurova (6-10) 90-79 on Friday. Galatasaray shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 61.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. French-American guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: UConn) stepped up and scored 26 points and 8 assists for the winners and the former international guard Isil Alben (170-86, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 15 assists. Belarusian-American point guard Alex Bentley (170-90, college: Penn St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and the former international LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: UNC) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Cukurova players scored in double figures. Galatasaray moved-up to second place. Loser Cukurova keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Galatasaray will meet Elazig (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cukurova will play against Canik Belediye (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
