Regular Season Round 18: Stuttgart - Giessen 78-73

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Giessen Pointers (7-11) lost on the road to tenth ranked Stuttgart (7-10) 78-73 on Saturday. Stuttgart made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a good game for guard Simion Habtemichael (191-96) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!). Forward Jonas Leidel (196-87) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Tyrell Sturdivant (201-95, college: Stony Brook) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Falko Theilig (180-92) added 12 points and 6 assists in the effort for Giessen Pointers. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Stuttgart moved-up to ninth place in South-West. Loser Giessen Pointers dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Stuttgart will face Tuebingen 2 (#13) on the road in the next round. Giessen Pointers will play against Kaiserslautern and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
