Very expected game when 12th ranked Benfica B (4-13) was crushed on the road by second ranked Povoa (13-4) 84-63 on Saturday. Povoa outrebounded Benfica B 37-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Benfica B's players. The former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) stepped up and scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Rui Coelho (191-89) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four Povoa players scored in double figures. American forward Brandon Simmons (206, college: Alders.-Broad.) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Tony Anderson-II (206-97, college: SEMO) scored 19 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Povoa maintains second place with 13-4 record having four points less than leader Imortal. Loser Benfica B keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Povoa will face Academica (#5) in Coimbra in the next round. Benfica B will play on the road against Ginasio (#7) in Figueira da Foz and hope to win that game.
