No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Goetting.ASC (12-4) beat 7th ranked WSG Koenigs (7-9) in Goettingen 82-71 on Saturday. Strangely WSG Koenigs outrebounded Goetting.ASC 37-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. WSG Koenigs were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Andrew Onwuegbuzie (192-95) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Matthew Husek (211, college: Holy Cross, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Noe Trenz (195-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Swedish guard Jordan-Gerami Lou (-97) added 11 points in the effort for WSG Koenigs. Four WSG Koenigs players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Goetting.ASC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Aschersleben. Loser WSG Koenigs keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Goetting.ASC will face Vechta-2 (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. WSG Koenigs will play against Bramsche TuS and hope to win that game.
