Regular Season Round 14: Chavdar - Shumen 92-112

An interesting game for Shumen (10-2) which played road game in Troyan against 3rd ranked Chavdar (9-5). First ranked Shumen had an easy win 112-92. Shumen dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Chavdar's 46. Shumen forced 20 Chavdar turnovers and outrebounded them 46-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Dimitar Yanchev (187-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Krasimir Dimitrov (195-98) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Shumen's coach zvonko Papak used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Anton Dikov (190-94) added 22 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Chavdar. Five Shumen and four Chavdar players scored in double figures. Shumen have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Chavdar at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Shumen are looking forward to face league's second-placed Slavia in Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chavdar will play on the road against CSKA in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
