Regular Season Round 17: Leotar - Zrinjski HT 73-79

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Zrinjski HT (8-9) beat 6th ranked Leotar (8-9) in Trebinje 79-73 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-13. But Leotar won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Zrinjski HT won last quarter 26-22. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Leotar's 28. Canadian-Serbian forward Aleksandar Danilovic (202-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian point guard Aleksa Nikolic (200-95, college: Marshall) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Zrinjski HT players scored in double figures. Swingman Dejan Sakotic (195-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) answered with 27 points and swingman Vladimir Aleksic (198-88) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Leotar. Leotar's coach Miro Vukoje tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Zrinjski HT. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kakanj and Leotar. Leotar lost their third game in a row. Zrinjski HT will face higher ranked Spars (#3) in Sarajevo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
