Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Artland Dragons (7-15) were defeated on the road by seventh ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (13-10) 72-62 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was American guard Davonte Lacy (193-93, college: WSU) who scored 16 points. The other American import forward Stephon Jelks (198-96, college: Mercer) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach Branislav Ignjatovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian power forward Danielius Lavrinovicius (205-99) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and center Robert Oehle (209-88) added 15 points respectively. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to sixth place. Loser Artland Dragons keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will meet higher ranked Gladiators (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Artland Dragons will play against Bayer Giants (#7) and hope to secure a win.
