Regular Season Round 24: Bayer Giants - Hagen Phoenix 68-84

An interesting game took place in Leverkusen where higher ranked Bayer Giants (12-10) were upset on its own court by twelfth ranked Phoenix Hagen (10-12) 84-68. The winners were led by American guard Kyle Leufroy (190-96, college: Lehigh) who scored that evening 25 points and 5 assists and the other American import guard Jonathan Octeus (193-91, college: Purdue) supported him with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 6 assists by Serbian guard Nino Celebic (191-91) did not help to save the game for Bayer Giants. American forward Nick Hornsby (201-95, college: Sacramento St.) added 14 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Tuebingen. Newly promoted Bayer Giants dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Phoenix Hagen will play against higher ranked Uni Baskets (#8) in Paderborn in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bayer Giants will play on the road against Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck and hope to get back on the winning track.
