Regular Season Round 18: Ankara B. - Petkim 76-77

Fifteenth-ranked Ankara B. (3-15) made lots of trouble for first ranked Socar Petkim (14-4) on Friday. The visitors from Petkim managed to secure only one-point victory 77-76. However their fans expected much easier game. 26 personal fouls committed by Ankara B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Hakan Yapar (202-84) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Desi Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) who recorded 28 points and 4 assists and guard Ihsan-Yalcin Azizmahmutogullari (188-82) added 7 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Socar Petkim have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-4 record, which they share with Fethiye. Newly promoted Ankara B. keeps the fifteenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Samsun. Socar Petkim is looking forward to face Yalova Bld (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ankara B. will play against Konyaspor and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
