Second Stage Round 3: Timberwolves - Vienna 86-87

Tenth-ranked Timberwolves (2-17) used its home court advantage to challenge Hallmann (7-12) in Vienna on Saturday. The visitors managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 19-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Hallmann made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Point guard Luka Gvozden (184-93) accounted for 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Point guard Jakob Szkutta (188-99) came up with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Philipp DAngelo (198-89) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Timberwolves in the defeat. Four Timberwolves players scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hallmann will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Timberwolves will play against Arkadia Lions (#9) in Traiskirchen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
