The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Rhein Main Baskets' (7-9) home victory over 9th ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (5-10) 99-71 on Saturday. Rhein Main Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to ASC Theresianum Mainz's 18. Rhein Main Baskets forced 23 ASC Theresianum Mainz turnovers and outrebounded them 51-34 including 20 on the offensive glass. Rhein Main Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by ASC Theresianum Mainz's players. Canadian guard Jamie Hutcheson (175-99, college: MCC Toronto) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and forward Jasmin Weyell (178-99) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Canadian guard Lauren Mortier (175-89, college: Manitoba) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Bulgarian Antonia Filipova (180-98) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ASC Theresianum Mainz's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rhein Main Baskets. They moved-up to sixth place in South, which they share with Weiterstadt. Loser ASC Theresianum Mainz keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play against Schwabach (#4) and hope to secure a win.
