Second Stage Round 4: Ezerunas - Gargzdu 79-80

Twelfth-ranked Ezerunas (12-19) used its home court advantage to challenge ninth ranked Gargzdu (17-15) in Moletai on Saturday. The visitors from Gargzdai managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected easier game. The winners were led by swingman Mantas Ruikis (197-85) who scored that evening 42 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and guard Ernestas Jonkus (187-99) supported him with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by center Ignas Lukosius (202-93) did not help to save the game for Ezerunas. Point guard Dominykas Zupkauskas (186-96) added 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Gargzdu have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 17-15 record. Loser Ezerunas keeps the twelfth place with 19 games lost. Gargzdu will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ezerunas will play against Taurages (#15) and hope to secure a win.
