Regular Season Round 12: Interkhim - Rivne 58-76

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Interkhim (6-7) against fourth ranked Rivne (6-7) on Saturday night. Host Interkhim was defeated by Rivne in Odessa 76-58. The game was mostly controlled by Rivne. Interkhim was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Interkhim to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Interkhim 42-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international guard Viktoriya Shmatova (172-87) who led her team to a victory with 33 points (!!!) and 7 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Center Tetiana Havrylchyk (193-0) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Svitlana Kolibabchuk (189-87) replied with 31 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and international guard Yulia Musienko (177-97) added 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Interkhim. Interkhim's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rivne moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Interkhim. Rivne will play against Chaika (#5) in Berdiansk in the next round. Interkhim will play at home against the league's second-placed Dynamo-NPU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
