Very important is a road loss of third ranked Coburg (10-8) against twelfth ranked Loewen (3-16) on Saturday night. Visiting Coburg was defeated by Loewen in Erfurt 92-81. Loewen players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Coburg's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian-British swingman Adam Thoseby (198-91) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) contributed with 6 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American forward Princeton Onwas (198-93, college: SJSU) answered with 26 points and 8 rebounds and French Tidjane Keita (208-96) added 17 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Coburg. Loewen maintains twelfth place in South with 3-16 record. Coburg lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Loewen will play against higher ranked Speyer (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Coburg will play against Baunach (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
