Very important is a road loss of third ranked Merkezefendi (11-7) against twelfth ranked Yalova Bld (8-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Merkezefendi was defeated by Yalova Bld in Yalova 86-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Merkezefendi. They outrebounded Merkezefendi 45-32 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Shaquille Goodwin (206-94, college: Memphis) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-94, college: Augusta, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international Umit Sonkol (206-82) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Gokhan Yazicioglu (200-90) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Merkezefendi. Five Yalova Bld and four Merkezefendi players scored in double figures. Merkezefendi's coach Sahin Atesdagli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Yalova Bld maintains twelfth position with 8-10 record. Newly promoted Merkezefendi keeps the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Yalova Bld will play against league's leader Socar Petkim on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Merkezefendi will play against Bornova Bld and hopes to get back on the winning track.
