Very expected game when 12th ranked Mannheim (7-12) was smashed on the road by first ranked Karlsruhe SC (18-1) 101-63 on Saturday. Karlsruhe SC outrebounded Mannheim 31-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Quite impressive performance for Rouven Roessler (198-80) who helped to win the game recording 27 points. Center Eyke Prahst (209-97) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Karlsruhe SC players scored in double figures. Guard Benjamin Kaufhold (185-89) answered with 14 points and Pascal Klahn added 10 points in the effort for Mannheim. Mannheim's coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Karlsruhe SC maintains first place in South-West with 18-1 record. Loser Mannheim keeps the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Karlsruhe SC will face Fellbach (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mannheim will play against Ulm BBU 01 (#4) and hope to win that game.
