Regular Season Round 21: KOS - Piraten 67-78

Very expected game in Celovec where 10th ranked KOS (6-15) was defeated by sixth ranked Worthersee Piraten (12-9) 78-67. It looked good early as KOS took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Worthersee Piraten had a 31-19 second period charge getting the lead and KOS was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-78. Worthersee Piraten made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 KOS turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by KOS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Lukas Simoner (190-99) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 4 steals. Slovenian forward Simon Finzgar (196-80) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Worthersee Piraten players scored in double figures. Worthersee Piraten's coach Goran Jovanovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Marin Sliskovic (200-95) answered with 20 points and Slovenian forward Lovro Fizuleto (200-92) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for KOS. The victory was the third consecutive win for Worthersee Piraten. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mustangs. KOS at the other side keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Worthersee Piraten's next round opponent will be league's leader Rocks in Mattersburg and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KOS will play at home against Flames (#7) and hope to win that game.
