There was no surprise when 7th ranked Speyer (8-10) was crushed on the road by second ranked Wuerzburg (15-4) 115-90 on Sunday. Wuerzburg made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Lithuanian forward Rytis Pipiras (201-95) fired 24 points for the winners. Nils Hafurther chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Wuerzburg's coach Eric Detlev felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. Center Adrian Lind (206-94) produced 27 points and 7 rebounds and American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Wuerzburg and four Speyer players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Wuerzburg. They maintain second place in South with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Elchingen. Speyer lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Wuerzburg will face Giessen 46ers 2 (#5) on the road in the next round. Speyer will play against Loewen in Erfurt and hope to win that game.
