The game between second ranked Blackbirds (15-6) and eighth ranked Flames (10-9) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Blackbirds were defeated by Flames in a tough game in Vienna 63-68. Blackbirds trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 22-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 63-68 at the end of the game. Flames had a 42-29 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flames made 7 blocks. Naturalized Argentinian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 21 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 blocks for the winners and American-French forward Justin Vallejo (197-95, college: Piedmont) chipped in 5 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Sebastian Koch (201-88) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and forward Christoph Astl (186-88) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Flames moved-up to seventh place. Blackbirds at the other side keep the second position with six games lost. They share it with Lions. Flames are looking forward to face KOS (#10) in Celovec in the next round. Blackbirds will play at home against Deutsch-Wagram (#12) and are hoping to win this game.
