There was no surprise in Osnabrueck where 9th ranked Panthers Osn. (4-10) was defeated by second ranked Braunschweig (11-3) 79-67 on Sunday. British forward Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby (190-95, college: Lafayette) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American guard Toshua Leavitt (162-99, college: Texas St.) chipped in 22 points. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Forward Michelle Mueller (180-92) responded with 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Annemarie Potratz (163-97) scored 9 points. Panthers Osn.'s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Braunschweig maintains second place in North with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Bamberg. Panthers Osn. lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Braunschweig will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panthers Osn. will play against Rotenburg/Scheessel (#5) and hope to secure a win.
