Regular Season Round 17: Wuerzburg - Weiterstadt 68-63
Date: February 9, 2020
Rather predictable result when second ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (13-3) beat at home 6th ranked Weiterstadt (7-9) 68-63 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Weiterstadt outrebounded Ladybaskets Wuerzburg 46-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. American guard Paige Bradley (175-94, college: Denver) stepped up and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Franziska Riedmann (186-97) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Canadian power forward Kaylee Kilpatrick (190-93, college: UNH) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and guard Christina Krick (169) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Weiterstadt's coach Jeremi Otshumbe rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Ladybaskets Wuerzburg. They maintain second place in South with 13-3 record having just one point less than leader Bamberg. Loser Weiterstadt keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Rhein-Main. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will meet Saarlouis Roden (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Weiterstadt will play against Ludwigsburg (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
