Second Stage Round 6: Targu Mures - Oradea 49-38

Bottom-ranked Oradea (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 49-38 loss to eighth ranked Targu Mures (9-3) in Targu Mures on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Targu Mures. Oradea managed to win second period 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oradea to just 4 points in third quarter. Targu Mures held Oradea to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Oradea 41-30 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Emese Gal (-92) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Brittney Dunbar (173-93, college: Weber St.) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Targu Mures' coach Ionel Brustur used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin center Teodora Saric (190-98) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Maria Farago added 8 points respectively. Targu Mures maintains eighth position with 9-3 record. Oradea at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Targu Mures are looking forward to face Agronomia (#10) in Bucurest in the next round. Oradea will play on the road against Targu Secuiesc and hopes to get finally their first victory.
