There was no surprise in Kaunas where 8th ranked Perlas (14-19) was defeated by sixth ranked Zalgiris II (17-16) 88-72 on Thursday. Zalgiris II dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas' 36. Zalgiris II forced 20 Perlas turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including 20 on the offensive glass. Forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Estonian guard Kerr Kriisa (189-1) chipped in 9 points and 7 assists. Zalgiris II's coach Arvydas Gronskis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Simas Jarumbauskas (198-0, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jokubas Rubinas (188-2) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Zalgiris II have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Delikatesas. Perlas lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 19 games lost. Zalgiris II will face Delikatesas (#6) in Joniskis in the next round. Perlas will play at home against Silute and hope to win that game.
