Regular Season Round 14: Kyiv Basket - Prometey 82-63

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kyiv. Third ranked Kyiv Basket faced second-ranked Prometey. Host Kyiv Basket (14-6) smashed guests from Kamianske (15-7) 82-63. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Prometey. The game was mostly controlled by Kyiv Basket. Prometey was better in fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyiv Basket had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: PLNU) who scored 14 points and 6 assists. International swingman Bogdan Bliznyuk (198-95, college: EWU) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. The former international guard Denys Lukashov (197-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) produced 9 points and 4 assists and American forward JD Miller (203-96, college: TCU) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Prometey's coach Karlis Muiznieks rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Kyiv Basket have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-6 record having five points less than leader Dnipro. Newly promoted Prometey keeps the second place with seven games lost. Kyiv Basket will face Mykolaiv (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Prometey will play against Zaporizhye (#7) in Zaporozhye and hope to win that game.
