Regular Season Round 19: Konyaspor - Ankara B. 87-82

Rather predictable result when eleventh ranked Konyaspor (10-9) won against at home 15th ranked Ankara B. (3-16) 87-82 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Konyaspor looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Mehmet Ozdogan (198-87) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 4 assists. American forward Trey Porter (208-96, college: Nevada) accounted for 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Konyaspor players scored in double figures. American guard Desi Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) came up with 42 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field) and guard Ihsan-Yalcin Azizmahmutogullari (188-82) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Ankara B. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Konyaspor moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bornova Bld and Manisa. Newly promoted Ankara B. keeps the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Samsun. Konyaspor will meet league's leader Socar Petkim on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ankara B. will play against Balikesir (#11) and hope to secure a win.
