There was no surprise in Oliveira where 10th ranked Barreirense (7-13) was crushed by fifth ranked Oliveirense (13-7) 89-67 on Saturday. Oliveirense dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Barreirense's 40. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and guard Corey Sanders (188-97, college: Rutgers) who added 15 points and 6 assists during the contest. Oliveirense's coach Norberto Alves felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. Guard Kendall Jacks (193, college: Wayne St., NE) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Khaleal McCormick (198-94, college: Tiffin) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Barreirense players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vitoria SC. Barreirense lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Esgueira. Oliveirense will meet CAB Madeira (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Barreirense will play against FC Porto and hope to secure a win.
