Regular Season Round 19: Balikesir - Fethiye 79-84

Very expected game when 10th ranked Balikesir (9-10) lost at home to second ranked Fethiye (15-4) 84-79 on Saturday. Fethiye outrebounded Balikesir 49-34 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Erick Neal (178-95, college: UT Arlington) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 11 assists. His fellow American import center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) accounted for 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Neal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Fethiye's coach Alkim Ay used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center Fatih Kizilca (201-92) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and center Emre Tanisan (206-99) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Balikesir in the defeat. Fethiye keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Petkim. Balikesir lost their sixth game in a row. Balikesir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Fethiye will meet at home Final Spor (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Balikesir will play against Ankara B. (#15) and hope to secure a win.
