An exciting game was played in Troyan. Second ranked Chavdar faced one of their biggest challengers Slavia. Host Chavdar (11-5) smashed guests from Sofia (9-6) 98-72. Chavdar made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Chavdar outrebounded Slavia 53-28 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chavdar made 7 blocks. Forward Rayko Dundalov (202-93, college: Lindenwood) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) chipped in 27 points and 5 rebounds. Four Chavdar players scored in double figures. Swingman Petar Hristov (194-90) produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Kristiyan Georgiev (196-98) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chavdar maintains second position with 11-5 record having just one point less than leader Shumen. Newly promoted Slavia keeps the third place with six games lost. Chavdar are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Vidabasket (#6) in Vidin in the next round. Slavia will play at home against Rilski 2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
