There was no surprise when 9th ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (5-11) was outleveled on the road by fourth ranked Schwabach (10-6) 71-52 on Sunday. Schwabach dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to ASC Theresianum Mainz's 30. They outrebounded ASC Theresianum Mainz 53-29 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Anna Furman (185-99) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Aquillin Hayes (173, college: New Haven) supported her with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Hayes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Schwabach players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 4 steals by Polish point guard Nikola Kacperska (169-93, college: Ft.Hays State) did not help to save the game for ASC Theresianum Mainz. Swingman Patricia Sagerer (175-92) added 12 points and 4 assists. Schwabach maintains fourth position in South with 10-6 record. Loser ASC Theresianum Mainz keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Schwabach will meet at home league's second-placed Bamberg in the next round and it may be the game of the week. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play against Jahn Muenchen (#5) and hope to secure a win.
