No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Speyer (9-10) beat 12th ranked Loewen (3-17) in Erfurt 90-86 on Sunday. Speyer forced 20 Loewen turnovers. Strangely Loewen outrebounded Speyer 47-32 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dominican-Spanish power forward Michel Acosta (201-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Tim Schwartz (197-87) contributed with 21 points and 4 steals for the winners. Australian-British swingman Adam Thoseby (198-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Jonathan Arnold (195-92) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Loewen. Five Speyer and four Loewen players scored in double figures. Speyer moved-up to seventh place in South. Loser Loewen keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Speyer will face higher ranked Baunach (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Loewen will play against OrangeAcademy (#9) in Ulm and hope to win that game.
