Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Kronberg (6-15) was outscored at home by eighth ranked Giessen Pointers (9-12) 93-74 on Sunday. Giessen Pointers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Tyrell Sturdivant (201-95, college: Stony Brook) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Lucas Mayer (183-99) contributed with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Giessen Pointers players scored in double figures. Giessen Pointers' coach Daniel Doerr used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Tim Steiner (186-92) replied with 30 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and center Florian Dietrich (203-0) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Kronberg. Despite that victory Giessen Pointers went down to ninth position (South-West) due to points difference, which they share with Fellbach. Loser Kronberg keeps the fourteenth place with 15 games lost. Giessen Pointers will face league's second-placed Koblenz at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kronberg will play against Tuebingen 2 (#8) and hope to win that game.
