Regular Season Round 20: Bosna 34 - Istanbul Univ. 75-78

Twelfth-ranked Bosna 34 (7-13) gave a tough game to second ranked Istanbul Uni (16-5) in Yenibosna on Sunday. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Istanbul Uni made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian center Saicha Grant-Allen (196-95, college: Dayton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and point guard Derin Erdogan (168-2) who added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Istanbul Uni's coach Hande Guven used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Dilek Dedeoglu (183-83, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) responded with 34 points (!!!) and American center Theresa Ekhelar (198-97, college: WVU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Istanbul Uni have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-5 record behind leader Emlak Konut. Newly promoted Bosna 34 dropped to the thirteenth place with 13 games lost. Istanbul Uni are looking forward to face Antalya 07 (#5) in the next round. Bosna 34 will play against Mersin Uni (#10) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
