There was no surprise when 6th ranked Gyumri (3-17) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked FIMA Basketball (7-11) 117-90 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by FIMA Basketball. Gyumri managed to win fourth quarter 29-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FIMA Basketball looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Gyumri's players. American point guard Byron Cooke (183-96, college: Avila) stepped up and scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and the former international center Georgii Podkolzin (201-99) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five FIMA Basketball players scored in double figures. FIMA Basketball's coach Armen Hovhannisyan felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kenny Johnson (189-91, college: GPRC) responded with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import forward Deojunique Flippin (197-94, college: Livingstone, agency: Green Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. FIMA Basketball maintains fourth place with 7-11 record. Newly promoted Gyumri stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost.
