Regular Season Round 29: Novomoskovsk - Politekhnik 78-106

Rather predictable result in Dnipro where fourth ranked Politekhnik (12-9) outscored 7th ranked Novomoskovsk (3-21) 106-78 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Politekhnik. Novomoskovsk was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Politekhnik forced 21 Novomoskovsk turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Politekhnik shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Novomoskovsk's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Christian Bradford (185-95, college: Radford) who scored 37 points (!!!) and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Isaac Banks (201-94, college: ETSU) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Bradford is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Politekhnik's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Alexander Shashkov (185-90) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Andriy Kobets (191-93) added 19 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Politekhnik have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 12-9 record. Novomoskovsk lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with 21 games lost. Politekhnik will face higher ranked SumDU (#3) in Sumy in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
