Regular Season Round 19: Izmit - Botas 69-61

Very expected game when 12th ranked Botas (4-14) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Izmit (9-9) 69-61 on Saturday. Izmit outrebounded Botas 40-22 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Courtney Williams (173-94, college: S.Florida) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her seven free throws). The former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) helped adding 15 points and 5 assists. At the losing side Swedish guard Frida Eldebrink (174-88) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and international Melis Gulcan (186-96) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Botas players scored in double figures. Izmit moved-up to sixth place. Loser Botas keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Izmit will face Cukurova (#10) in Mersin in the next round. Botas will play at home against Kayseri and hope to win that game.
