Second Stage Round 7: Arad - Satu Mare 83-65

An interesting game for Arad (8-4) which hosted in Arad their biggest opponent Satu Mare (7-3). Third ranked Arad had an easy win 83-65. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Arad. Satu Mare managed to win second period 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arad dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Satu Mare's 30 and made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game, while Satu Mare only scored eight points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Satu Mare helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Cypriot guard Veatriki Akathiotou (166-95) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Adrienne Webb (175-90, college: LSU) contributed with 23 points (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. American Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian point guard Maja Miljkovic (175-88) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Satu Mare. Arad have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Satu Mare at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Arad are looking forward to face Cluj Napoca (#5) on the road in the next round. Satu Mare will play against Brasov and is hoping to win this game.
