The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Socar Petkim as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Socar Petkim defeated 8th ranked Konyaspor at home 75-57. Socar Petkim looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and Hakan Yapar (202-84) who added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Five Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. American forward Trey Porter (208-96, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and guard Alp Karahan (193-98) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Socar Petkim (16-4) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Fethiye. Konyaspor at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Bornova Bld and Manisa. Konyaspor will play next round against Yalova Bld trying to get back on the winning streak. Socar Petkim will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Balikesir on the road.
