Regular Season Round 29: Niko-Basket - Mariupol 88-79

Everything went according to plan in Mykolaiv where second ranked Niko-Basket (18-5) won against 6th ranked Mariupol (8-15) 88-79 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 17-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-79. Niko-Basket outrebounded Mariupol 50-28 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Mark Bodnar (185-98) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Niko-Basket's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Dmytro Flashner (193-0) produced 18 points and guard Mikita Bibikov (190-97) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Five Mariupol players scored in double figures. Niko-Basket have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain second place with 18-5 record having 4 victories less than leader KDPU. Mariupol lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Niko-Basket will face league's leader KDPU in Kryvyi Rih in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mariupol will play on the road against DYUSH-DOR (#7) in Dnipro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
