Regular Season Round 20: Fenerbahce - Galatasaray 75-80

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#5) and Fenerbahce (#3). Fenerbahce was defeated at home 75-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. They outrebounded Fenerbahce 41-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Galatasaray looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Alex Poythress (203-93, college: Kentucky) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Galatasaray's coach Ertugrul Erdogan used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. French guard Nando De-Colo (196-87) responded with 15 points and 8 assists and Czech power forward Jan Vesely (213-90) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galatasaray (14-6) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tofas. Fenerbahce at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Galatasaray is looking forward to face Tofas (#4) in Bursa in the next round. Fenerbahce will play on the road against Afyon Bld in Afyonkarahisar and is hoping to win this game.
