The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Palanga's (16-19) home victory over 12th ranked Jonava (14-21) 94-72 on Saturday. Palanga dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Jonava's 32. Palanga had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Quincy Taylor (183-91, college: Longwood) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 assists and point guard Aidas Viskontas (186-86) who added 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. Palanga's coach Mindaugas Janiska felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Modestas Zaunieriunas (189-94) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and center Martynas Pacevicius (204-97) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Palanga moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Ereliai Mazeikiai. Loser Jonava keeps the twelfth position with 21 games lost. Palanga will face Ereliai Mazeikiai (#10) at home in the next round. Jonava will play against Gargzdu and hope to win that game.
