Regular Season Round 20: OGM Orman - Cankaya 63-83

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Ankara: Cankaya (#4) and Ormanspor (#3). Ormanspor was smashed at home by 20 points 63-83 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Cankaya outrebounded Ormanspor 44-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, college: Colorado) who scored 30 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Avery Warley-Talbert (190-87, college: Liberty) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 21 rebounds. Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. Cankaya's coach Cagri Ozek used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Montenegrin-American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Arike Ogunbowale (173-97, college: Notre Dame) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Newly promoted Cankaya maintains fourth position with 11-6 record. Ormanspor at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. Cankaya are looking forward to face Botas (#12) in Adana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ormanspor will have a break next round.
