Regular Season Round 19: Tornado KM - V.Rytas 78-76

The most exciting game of round 19 in the U18 League took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Vilniaus Silputa (16-3) to sixth ranked Tornado KM (8-10) 78-76 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vilniaus Silputa won third quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Tornado KM won last quarter 17-16. They also forced 20 Vilniaus Silputa turnovers. Strangely Vilniaus Silputa outrebounded Tornado KM 42-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Vilniaus Silputa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Laurynas Virbalas (179-2) fired 30 points, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Guard Matas Makauskas (187-2) chipped in 25 points. Tornado KM's coach Aivaras Grigaliunas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Augustinas Kruminis (-2) produced 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Tautvilas Tubelis (195-2) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Tornado KM moved-up to fifth place. Vilniaus Silputa at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Tornado KM are looking forward to face Vilniaus KM II (#9) on the road in the next round. Vilniaus Silputa's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilniaus Sostines.
