Very predictable result when seventh ranked Ovarense (9-12) rolled over on the road 13th ranked Maia Basket (6-15) 90-69. Ovarense made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Maia Basket turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Pedro Oliveira (180-0) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. The former international Cristovao Cordeiro (202-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Ovarense players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kurt James (196-95, college: Valdosta St.) who recorded 32 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import swingman Lamar Morgan (198-97, college: Coppin St.) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ovarense. They maintain seventh place with 9-12 record, which they share with CAB Madeira and Lusitania. Newly promoted Maia Basket dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Ovarense's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Benfica in Lisbona and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maia Basket will play at home against CAB Madeira (#9) and hope to win that game.
