Second Stage Round 7: Academic PL - Cherno More 83-67

Academic PL can celebrate finally their first win this season after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Cherno More (0-3) 83-67. Academic PL forced 23 Cherno More turnovers and outrebounded them 57-32 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Cherno More helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. Power forward Desislava Hilendarova (180-96) accounted for 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Five Academic PL players scored in double figures. Mariela Nikolova (178-3) came up with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Iva Dimova (185-3) added 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Cherno More in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Academic PL (1-2) left bottom position moving up to seventh place in Places 5-9, which they share with NSA. It was Cherno More's third loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with three games lost. Academic PL's next round opponent will be higher ranked Champion 2006 (#5) in Sofia and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
